DEMYSTIFYING DIGITAL THREATS

I’m Kate Bell, founder of Crow and Dove, an independent consulting practice focused on the human side of security. I help organisations understand how people behave, where vulnerable users may be exposed to harm and how policy can support safer, more effective systems. I started Crow and Dove with a clear vision: to help organisations create security systems that protect and support the people who use them, while empowering individuals to make the most of technology safely and securely, without compromising their privacy.

The crow represents strategy and resourcefulness. The dove represents compassion and hope.  Together, they reflect the Crow and Dove approach: clear-eyed security guided by empathy. My experience spans more than two decades, including a decade as an actor and presenter and a further decade identifying emerging cyber threats and communicating complex security issues to audiences of all ages. Since 2023, I have also used my public profile to advocate for stronger digital and technological protections for individuals and communities. I work as an independent subcontract consultant across human behaviour, digital safety, vulnerability-informed practice, security strategy and policy advice. 

My approach begins with the people who will use the product, access the system or rely on the service. I have designed and delivered security education programs for major ASX-listed companies, charities and volunteer organisations. Where additional expertise is required, I bring together a trusted network of practitioners across security, psychology, education, law enforcement and related disciplines.
